Frequently Asked Questions

I'M NEW TO CROSSFIT.  CAN I SCALE THE WORKOUT?

The event will have one written standard.  If you perform the workout as we have written, you have completed as prescribed and will receive a normal score for the event leaderboard.

Unless we state otherwise, WE ALLOW SCALING AT ANY OF OUR EVENTS.  Athletes can choose to scale ANY MOVEMENT, ANY REP COUNT, ANY WEIGHT to meet their own personal abilities.  Once you scale any part of the workout, your score will be entered into the leaderboard as a "scaled" score and it will fall below any team's score that did that workout as prescribed.  We will still judge you on your standard, we will keep your score, and it will still show up on the leaderboard. If you only scale one scored part of one workout, that is the ONLY score that will show up on the leaderboard as "scaled"; all others will show that you have done them as prescribed.

You MUST LET YOUR JUDGE KNOW BEFORE STARTING THE WORKOUT, if you are choosing to scale.  You can decide on the fly, even in the moments before the workout starts.  There is no need to let us know beforehand.  The goal is to have fun, so make the event yours.

There will be a wide mix of movements and prescribed weights for the barbell, but we will mostly stick to the "typical" crossfit weights (i.e. 135/95 for big sets of clean & jerks, 20lb/14lb wall ball weights, etc).  Our host venue does have a large rig and a large number of ring stations and ropes, so expect to see more events with bar/ring muscle ups and rope climbs.

One movement we will NEVER include is handstand push ups.  Those are just....bad.

It is also very unlikely we will ever program any running, as there is no safe way to include it at our host venue.

WHEN WILL THE WORKOUTS BE RELEASED?

Usually about 30 days prior to the event.  We do reserve the right to tell you there is a workout that will be a secret until the day of the event.  CrossFit is about adapting to the unknown, right?

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

In general, if you ask for a refund more than 30 days out from the event, we will issue a refund.  Our policy for each event should be included on the event page.

I'M ON THE WAITLIST. WHEN WILL I GET A SPOT?

Once an event sells out, the only ways a spot becomes available is if an individual/team drops out of the event (which will happen quite frequently).

If we are more than 30 days out, will go in order down the wait list and backfill.  That individual/team will get an invoice sent directly to the email address provided to pay the balance of the registration fee.  If it is not paid in the time frame mentioned in teh instructions, the invoice is cancelled and that spot's opening will be sent to the next team on the wait list.

WILL THERE BE EVENT PHOTOS?

We will strive to hire a photographer for every event, but no promises.  If we do find one, the photos will be free and a link will be posted into an online album and shared via the event page and social media.  Check back no sooner than a week after the event.
